Do I need an internet connection all the time to use Heyo for calls?

⚡Quick answer

• Outgoing calls: Yes—an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) is required only to start the call. After initiation, the voice travels over your SIM’s normal cellular network.

• Incoming calls: No—Heyo rings even if your phone is offline, provided your physical SIM is active.




Outgoing call requirements

To initiate an outgoing call in Heyo, all three conditions below must be met:

  1. Active physical SIM card with a valid calling plan and sufficient balance.
  2. An active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to trigger the masked call.
  3. Physical location within India—outgoing calls cannot be started from outside India. 



Incoming call behaviour

• Incoming calls ring on the Heyo app even if your phone is temporarily offline, as long as the SIM remains active.

• International incoming calls are always free.




When will Heyo NOT work?

• No internet connection at the moment you dial an outgoing call.

• SIM card with zero talk-time or an expired calling plan.

• Trying to initiate a call from outside India.




Troubleshooting steps

  1. Check internet: Open any website or run a speed test; reconnect if needed.
  2. Verify SIM balance: Use your carrier app or USSD code to confirm talk-time.
  3. Retry the call in Heyo.
