Can I use my own number with Heyo?

Can I use my own number with Heyo?

⚡Quick answer

No. You cannot use your own existing number as your Heyo number. Heyo assigns you a new virtual landline number upon completing your KYC verification, which acts as your Heyo number for making and receiving calls. You can, however, keep your existing business number active by setting up call forwarding from that number to your Heyo virtual number. All incoming calls will then reach Heyo, where you can use features such as IVR and call management.

1. What is a Virtual Number / Heyo Number

- A virtual phone number isn't tied to a physical phone device or a specific phone line.

- Instead of ringing just one desk phone, it can be used to make or receive calls on multiple phones simultaneously or in sequence, making it perfect for businesses with dispersed staff or those needing to manage calls efficiently.

- In Heyo, once you've completed your Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, you'll be assigned your unique Heyo Number.

- This number acts as the central point for your business communications.

- Depending on your Heyo plan, you can connect up to five different phone numbers to your Heyo Number: typically, one for the administrator and up to four for your team members.

- This setup ensures that incoming calls to your Heyo Number can ring across your staff's devices, no matter where they are.

2. Why can’t you map your old number directly to Heyo

Heyo creates and attaches a new virtual landline number to your account once you finish KYC. That virtual number is the only number Heyo can use for outbound and inbound calls inside the platform.

3. Steps to forward calls from your existing number to Heyo

Use the exact workflow below to route every incoming call on your old number straight into Heyo:

STEPS TO USE YOUR EXISTING BUSINESS NUMBER WITH HEYO

  1. Obtain Your Heyo Virtual Number: Log into your Heyo app and find your assigned Heyo virtual number.
  2. Access Your Office Phone Settings: On your existing business phone, open the call settings menu.
  3. Set Up Call Forwarding: Enable “Always Forward” or equivalent call-forwarding option and enter your Heyo virtual number as the forwarding destination.
  4. Save and Activate: Confirm and save the settings to activate call forwarding.
  5. Test the Setup: Make a test call to your existing business number; if you hear the Heyo IVR menu or your Heyo system answering, the forwarding is working correctly.
